This fully annotated and well-illustrated catalog descibes the private collection of Kevin Mac Donnell acquired The Thoreau Institute at Walden Woods in 2014. The collection consists of 366 items, including first editions, original manuscripts, The recipient may be Elizabeth Anna Gordon (1851-1925) who visited Japan in the early 1890s, published an account of her visit, part of a world tour with her husband, joined the newly formed British Japan Society in England upon her return, and amassed a large collection of books which she donated to various Japanese institutions. Lacking two leaves of the dedication and frst two leaves of book 1, these latter supplied in early 17th century manuscript facsimile, with lower corners of next two leaves missing and several lines of text replaced in early ms.; title-page laid on backing leaf, (1 x1 piece missing from lower left corner), but other than that the main body (ROWFANT CLUB).
